DNS leak test is quick and only lists PIA, but certain sites still don't load, namely TBP. I am getting the following for my hostname: ĮDIT2: Changed my VPN address to us-west and now everything is running pretty quickly. loads super fast and I pass the leak test 100% of the time with ISP listing as all from (which is PIA) and everything else loads.ĭo I HAVE to use PIA's little installer tool? I had a friend use that, and he said every time he disconnected, it would kill his underlying internet connection as well.ĮDIT: So I forced 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 as my DNS for the VPN connection and now I am finally able to load and run (granted it is super duper slow).
PIA VPN WINDOWS 7 INSTALL FAIL MAC OS X
I connect to the SAME VPN address and credentials, using my Mac Mini running Mac OS X 10.8.2 and it works WONDERFULLY. Nothing has worked and I still have MANY pages that don't load properly.įor the most part, yeah I could continue to use DNS this way knowning that I am protected, but here is the kicker. Also tried Google's public DNS: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 Disabling my firewall (comodo) and anti-virus (Avast) (note: even though I disabled these during installation they still generated logs so Im not sure they were really disabled.
PIA VPN WINDOWS 7 INSTALL FAIL DRIVER
Disabling (temporarily) driver signature enforcement. Running the TAP windows installer in safe mode.
PIA VPN WINDOWS 7 INSTALL FAIL MANUAL
I've tried to manually clear the DNS, by following the manual Solution B listed here: Manually installing the TAP driver through the windows hardware installation wizard. What is going on here? Do I have a DNS leak? Are my connections conflicting or getting split? If I break the VPN connection, everything goes back to normal, everything is peachy and it loads up in an instant.

Facebook has a bit of an issue as well, and so do a number of other sites. It just hangs and says "waiting for " and then some random crap from Google. Funny that I can't test for DNS leaks when I am connected to the VPN. Once I establish a connection to the VPN successfully, certain websites don't load. I honestly don't want to 'install' anything just to gain VPN access when VPN connections are a built-in function to all operating systems. I have set up my VPN connection to PIA via their PPTP steps: I am currently using the PIA VPN with Windows 7 64bit and Chrome. However, I am running into a problem and I am wondering if some more experienced users here could tell me what is going on and maybe what I need to do. The openvpn will install and automatically the TAP will install too.So as with a lot of people recently, I picked up a one month subscription to privateinternetaccess.
PIA VPN WINDOWS 7 INSTALL FAIL UTORRENT
If you really want to keep using clients like uTorrent that cant bind to an adapter, you should still be safe with just Windows Firewall, you just need to test it with a non copyrighted torrent like Debain until you are sure it is working. Make sure you download the appropriate one for your system either 圆4 64bits or x86 32bitsĪfter downloading, install using administrator permission(right-click and run as administrator) The issue isnt really a Linux or Windows thing, it is a PIA client issue on Windows. Sign in to your PC with a user account that has administrator rights. On the Startup Settings screen, choose the startup setting you want. If you don't see the Startup Settings option, tap or click Advanced options. Once your PC restarts, on the Choose an option screen, tap or click Troubleshoot. Under Advanced startup, tap or click Restart now.
PIA VPN WINDOWS 7 INSTALL FAIL UPDATE
Under PC settings, tap or click Update and recovery, and then tap or click Recovery. (If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.) Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings. Start your window in SAFE MODE now how do u do that? To fix the ERROR installing tap on windows 8/8.1, you need to do the following things: Go back to the directory, and Install a new TAP virtual adapter and try again.

With openVPN installed go to Start > All Programs > OpenVPN > Utilities > Delete ALL TAP-32 virtual Ethernet adapters (do it as administrator). I have been able to resolve this issue many ways, but I would try this first. During installation an error box appears "error occurred installing the TAP-Win32 device driver" The login account does have administrative rights, (right clicking the install file and selecting run-as the selected user has admin rights), and I have tried the previous version openvpn-2.rc19, still has same problem (read on another forum this solved the problem for someone) Any suggestions ? Much appreciated. However today when installing it on a users laptop, on XP sp3, it will not install the TAP-Win32 device driver. I have installed OpenVPN and it is up and running like a dream on all the users PC's its been tried on, OS's being windows XP, and windows 7. I have recently configured a pfsense server for VPN, and am testing out the OpenVPN client on a few users. Hi all, ok ive tried openvpn forums, and getting no joy, so im trying here.
